Anjum Inspired by Aspire

CEO Basic Human Rights Anjum Tahirkeli with members of Football Academy
Chief Executive Officer of Basic Human Rights Anjum Tahirkheli has called the young people of a London based football Academy “Inpiring”.
The charity journeyed to the capital on Saturday 24th July to meet with founders Gavin Rose and Junior Kadi and to watch some of the academy’s most promising young footballers in action.

The visit was in order to develop a strategic partnership with the organisation, who take young boys and coach them throughout their teenage years, encouraging them into further education as well as providing them with the knowledge and skill it takes to make it as a professional footballer.
Now, the young people of Aspire have offered to host a charity football tournament in August, which will raise funds through sponsorship for their fellow young footballers in Haiti.
Half of the money raised will go toward building child friendly areas known as Time-Out Zones in the country, which was devastated by one of the strongest earthquakes in history in January. Basic Human Rights currently has 135 young football fanatics awaiting the arrival of the Zone.
The other half will go toward Aspire Academy.
If you would like to sponsor a young footballer for the charity football tournament, then please contact the Basic Human Rights UK head office and ask to speak to Sarah on 01274 901 336, or email s.gate@basichumanrights.org.uk

In the meantime, please keep checking our website for confirmation of dates, locations and times.

  50,000 People at Risk
Due to Possible Floods in the Khyber Pakhtun Khuwa Province of Pakistan

With a lake that was formed back in January 2010 due to a massive landslide in Hunza valley situated in the north west of Pakistan the Pakistan National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has alerted the concerned provincial government of Khyber Pakhtun Khuwa to prepare for possible floods in the districts of Shangla, Mansehra, Kala Dhaka and Kohistan according to IRIN.
Already the land slide has destroyed villages in Hunza and over two thousands people were displaced by the catastrophe including women, children and elderly men. Some 260 houses destroyed and 20 people reportedly killed. Displaced people are now staying in the camps setup at the schools in neighboring areas according to the PRCS reports.
The lake is causing serious risk to over 50,000 people as their local areas most probably would come under water according to the NDMA. Floods are expected and a comprehensive plan is needed to be implemented on the ground.
