“The welfare of today's children is inseparably linked with the peace of tomorrow's world.” - Henry R. Labouisse, on accepting the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, December 10, 1965.
Global Peace Garden
A major part of the BHR Peace Gardens Programme is to get as many people involved as possible. This raises awareness of the importance of the Peace Gardens in educating children about different cultures, the inequalities between the developed and developing world, and links between food and the wider environment.
BHR's Six Principles of Peace
RESPECT: Learn about and accept others and understand the interconnectedness of people, plants and our planet!
GIVING: Caring for the gardens, sharing skills and knowledge, learning how to co-operate with others!
DIGNITY: Learning how to grow your own vegetables, and feeling proud from the results... Feeling even prouder when sharing ideas and advice with other children!
EQUALITY: Learn to live peacefully with all nations and peoples.
DEDICATION: Being devoted and committed to something, from planting vegetables to harvesting and cooking them!
JUSTICE: Understand that peace, human rights, social justice and global issues are interconnected.
